Meet Ayodele Olaniyi Praise(AOP): A Vision for a Better Ekiti

Leadership is most powerful when it grows from a genuine desire to serve people and improve their lives. For Praise Ayodele (AOP), the aspiration to lead Ekiti State is rooted in a deep passion for the progress and welfare of its people.
A proud son of Ekiti, Ayodele Olaniyi Praise, popularly known as Praise Ayodele (AOP), believes that the true purpose of leadership is service. His vision is simple yet powerful: to reposition Ekiti State for sustainable development, economic growth, and improved quality of life for all residents.
A Leader with a Heart for Service
Praise Ayodele’s journey into leadership did not begin with politics. It began with service. During his time as a Student Union President, he demonstrated practical leadership and commitment to the welfare of students. Despite limited resources, he initiated several projects that improved the learning environment for students.
These initiatives included the construction of boreholes to provide water for hostel residents, the establishment of a campus radio station, the provision of a library for academic development, and the creation of reading and relaxation spaces for students. His leadership also focused strongly on advocacy for student welfare and ensuring that the voices of students were heard.
These experiences shaped his belief that leadership must always prioritize the needs of the people.
A Voice for Security and Community Protection
Beyond student leadership, Praise Ayodele also played a role in community mobilization during a period when insecurity became a major concern in parts of the region. He participated actively in advocacy efforts and public mobilization that contributed to the establishment of the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun, which was created to strengthen community security across the South-West.
For him, security is fundamental to development. A society cannot prosper without safety and stability.
Understanding the Challenges Facing Ekiti
Ekiti State is rich in culture, talent, and potential. However, several challenges continue to limit the pace of development in the state.
One of the most pressing issues is poverty and unemployment, particularly among young people. The state’s heavy reliance on civil service employment has left many graduates and skilled youths without sufficient opportunities.
Another major challenge is infrastructure development. Many communities continue to face difficulties with poor road networks, unstable electricity supply, and limited access to water and sanitation services.
In addition, the state’s economy remains heavily dependent on agriculture and federal allocations. While agriculture remains important, there is a growing need for economic diversification, increased industrial activity, and greater private sector investment.

Leadership That Listens
Praise Ayodele describes himself as a servant leader — someone who believes that power should not belong to a select few, but should instead serve the interests of the people.
His philosophy is centered on bringing governance closer to the people, ensuring that their voices are heard, and building policies that reflect the real needs of the community.
For him, leadership is not about authority. It is about responsibility.
Why Choose AOP?

He believes that when leaders listen before they act, governance becomes more effective and more inclusive.

The future of Ekiti, he believes, can be brighter when leadership and the people work together.
